Welcome to the Victor's Family

Welcome to the Victor's Family

Another great year lies before us and I'm excited to embark on this year's newest adventure. This is our classroom blog. Throughout the year, on at least a weekly basis, we will use this medium for many of our classroom communications.

  • I will post updates of classroom events and anecdotes in journaling format. You'll love getting an overview of all our fun activities. These posts will include photos taken by our classroom photographer.
  • We will announce upcoming events with all the necessary information and preparations. I will tag each event for easy searching
  • Students will publish their writings, projects, and/or other items of interest. It's a learning journal and allows for parents to see how well their children are progressing.
  • And upcoming assignments with their due dates will be posted regularly for your tracking efforts. This will also help parents to check up on students homework and guide them if they have to miss school for sickness or business.
  • Although I monitor all that are posted on the blog, I may not post all comments, particularly comments that are for my eyes only. I will post all appropriate comments that require communication to other parents.
This is a private blog for this school year and only the parents and myself are receiving an invitation to view the contents found in here. It will be like you are visiting our classroom each week.

Allow me to first introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Osburn, however, I am usually called Miss Sandy by my students. I have been teaching and home educating for over 20 years and I love to share content that will shape the character and intellect of my students for good. I know that we will have good times, make lasting memories and friends, learn lots of fun facts and meaningful skills, and most importantly celebrate our victories as we learn that we can do hard things.

Here are our classroom rules that will guide us throughout the year. We will have regular discussions about our ability and understanding of these rules.

We are VICTORS, not victims
We WELCOME productive struggle
We are the FOCUSED classroom
We mind OUR own business
We follow the Rules of RESPECT

Here are some fun suggestions as well...

A few items of business. It is our classroom policy that all school supplies are in a communal location and so please do not write your child's name on them. Also, I do not allow toys from home in the classroom, so please keep them in your house or your car and make sure they do not find their way into your child's backpack. I will be confiscating any toys that are a distraction from what we are doing in class. Although the children are allowed a snack if they are hungry after they have completed their morning work, I do not allow sugary snacks in my classroom. So please be sure to pack something that they are allowed to eat - fruits (fruit snacks are okay), vegetables, meat, cheese, or crackers, breads, etc. I want your children to get the best education opportunity possible and that starts at home. I encourage you to provide a solid wholesome breakfast, allow them to have adequate rest, reduced stress, and managed media/screens. If we work together, there is no way these kiddos can't conquer all that's before them.

Here's to another great year of learning and growing and becoming.
